Delegate O’Quinn Earns the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Business Advocate of the Year Award

ARLINGTON, VA, Monday, May 11, 2015 – On Thursday, May 7, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce recognized Delegate Israel O’Quinn (R-Fifth District) as its 2015 Business Advocate of the Year for his hard work in supporting and promoting pro-business measures during the legislative session. He also received the Chamber’s “A” Rating on their Legislative Scorecard for the fourth consecutive year, which recognizes Delegate O’Quinn’s commitment to pro-business and free enterprise legislation during the General Assembly Session. Both awards were presented to Delegate O’Quinn at the 2015 Virginia Chamber of Commerce Legislative Reception and Awards Dinner.

"I'm truly honored to receive the Chamber’s Business Advocate of the Year Award,” said Delegate O’Quinn after the reception. “Virginia has a part-time, citizen legislature by design, so I know first-hand the importance of having an atmosphere that is conducive to economic growth. The government has an obligation to provide the best setting for growth and prosperity so that private businesses can develop and maintain the jobs that sustain our economies. I have persistently fought for Southwest Virginia businesses because I have seen the hard work and dedication they have to their trade and to our region.”

“Whether it was fighting against EPA regulations that place new burdens on businesses or rejecting new tax burdens on small businesses and families, Delegate Israel O’Quinn was a firm and persuasive voice in defending Virginia’s businesses and their employees,” said Barry DuVal, President and CEO of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. “The Virginia Chamber applauds Delegate Israel O’Quinn for his distinguished advocacy for policies that position Virginia for long-term economic growth, and we are pleased to recognize him with the 2015 Business Advocate of the Year award.”
